3. Manuscript types accepted
Articles falling into the following categories are invited for submission: Original Scientific Articles, Case Reports, and Review Articles.
Any suggestions or comments regarding previous articles and related topics in general are also welcome for our Reader’s Forum, and should be sent directly to the editor-in-chief (editor@kacd.or.kr).

4. Publication Standards of Ethical Approvals and Conduct
Experimentation involving human and animal subjects will be published only if such research has been conducted in full accordance with ethical principles and guidelines, including the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinky (version, 2002) and the additional requirements, if any, of the country where the research has been carried out.
Submitting manuscripts for publication that contain elements of redundant publication, fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism constitutes a major violation of the universally accepted standards of ethical and scientific conduct.
Statements and opinions expressed in the articles and communications herein are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the editor(s) or publisher, and the editor(s) and publisher disclaim any responsibility or liability for such material. Neither the editor(s) nor the publisher guarantees, warrants, or endorses any product or service advertised in this publication. Neither do they guarantee any claim made by the manufacturer of such product or service.
5. Language
The language of publication is Korean or English. If a manuscript is written in Korean, at least the title, authors’ name and affiliations, abstract, figures, tables, the legends of figures and tables, and reference list should be presented in English. When non-standard terms appearing 3 or more times in the manuscript are to be abbreviated, they should be written out completely in the text when first used with the abbreviation in parenthesis.
6. Copyright Assignment
Authors submitting a paper do so on the understanding that the work and its essential substance have not been published before and are not being considered for publication elsewhere. The submission of the manuscript by the authors means that the authors automatically agree to assign exclusive copyright to the J Kor Acad Cons Dent if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication.
7. Permissions
All studies using human or animal subjects should include an explicit statement in the Materials and Methods section identifying the review and approval by ethics committee for each study, if applicable.
Manuscripts must be accompanied by a statement in the cover letter that the experiments were undertaken with the understanding and written consent of each subject and according to the above mentioned principles.
If all or parts of previously published quotations, tables, or illustrations are used, permission must be obtained from the copyright holder concerned. Permission is also needed if photographs of identifiable persons are used. The authors will be held responsible for failing to acquire proper permission before submission.
8. Manuscript Structure and Format
For the convenience of the readers, manuscripts should be as concise as possible. All manuscripts should be limited to 25 double spaced pages (A4 size) for original scientific articles and 13 pages for case reports including tables and illustrations. Units, symbols, figures, tables, and references used must conform to the following linked article. <Link>
1) The title page
The title page of the manuscript should include the title of the article, the full name of the author(s), academic degrees, positions, institutional affiliations, a running title (of 7 or less words), and correspondence. Listed authors should include only those individuals who have made a significant creative contribution. The corresponding author's position, affiliation, address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address should be given.
2) Abstract
The abstract should be no more than 250 words, and should give details of what was done. The structured abstract is to contain the following major headings: Objective(s); Materials and Methods; Results; Conclusion(s); and Key words of no more than 6 words in alphabetical order.
3) Introduction
The introduction should briefly review the pertinent literature in order to identify the gap in knowledge that the study is intended to address. The purpose of the study, the tested hypothesis and its scope should be described.
4) Materials and Methods
The three components to this section are the experimental design, the procedures employed, and the statistical tests used to analyze the results. The vast majority of manuscripts should cite prior studies using similar methods and succinctly describe the particular aspects used in the present study. If the study utilized a commercial product, the generic term should be used and the product name, manufacturer, city, and country should be stated in parentheses.
5) Results
This section should present only the observations with minimal reference to earlier literature or to possible interpretations by the authors. Data must not be duplicated in Tables and Figures. In tables and figures, magnification rate and units should be stated. SI (Le système International d'Unités) units should be used. Tables, figures, and legends of tables and figures may be included in the text or attached as separate pages at the end of the manuscript. Files containing figures may also be submitted as separate files.
6) Discussion and Conclusions
The discussion section should describe the major findings of the study. Both the strength and the weaknesses of the observations should be discussed. Discussion should end with a brief conclusion and a comment on the potential clinical relevance of the findings. In addition, suggestions for further research topics may be included if needed.
7) Acknowledgement
In the acknowledgement section the author may specify contributors to the article other than the authors accredited. Specifications of the source of funding for the study and any potential conflict of interest if possible should also be included. The specifications of the source of funding will be presented in the first page of the published article, below the correspondence.
8) References
Make sure all references have been verified and are cited consecutively in the text by superscript numbers. The reference list should be typed double-spaced on a separate page and numbered in the order the reference citations appear in the text. For journal citations, include surnames and initials of authors, complete title of article, name of journal (abbreviated according to the Cumulated Index Medicus), volume, inclusive page numbers, and year of publication.
If needed, single or double authors should be acknowledged in the text, e.g. Ford and Roberts. If there are more than two authors, the first author followed by et al. is sufficient, e.g. Tobias et al.
We recommend the use of EndNote for reference management and formatting. For reference style and format, please refer to the following link. <Guidelines for References>
9) Other types of articles
Main Text of Review Articles should be divided into Introduction, Review and Conclusions. The Introduction section should focus on placing the subject matter in context and justifying the need for the review. The Review section should be divided into logical sub-sections in order to improve readability and enhance understanding. Search strategies must be described and the use of state-of-the-art evidence-based systematic approaches is expected. The use of tabulated and illustrative material is encouraged. The Conclusion section should reach clear conclusions and/or recommendations on the basis of the evidence presented.
Main Text of Clinical Reports and Clinical Articles should be divided into Introduction, Report, Discussion and Conclusion. They should be well illustrated with clinical images, radiographs, diagrams and, where appropriate, supporting tables and graphs. However, all illustrations must be of the highest quality. Reader’s forum will present various questions, suggestions and critics on the subjects of Operative Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry, and Endodontics from the readers.
9. Manuscript files accepted
Manuscripts should be uploaded as double-spaced Word (.doc) files. Use Arial 10 point font. Illustrations must be submitted in electronic format with file sizes appropriate for publication. All images should be at least 300 dpi and 5 cm * 5 cm in size. 500 dpi is recommended. When submitted as separate files, name of the author and illustration number should be stated in the file name.
10. Blinded Review and Decision
Manuscripts that do not conform to the general aims and scope of the journal will be returned immediately without review. All other manuscripts will be reviewed by experts in the field (three referees), and decision on a paper will be made afterwards.
After a manuscript is accepted, the authors will be asked to submit the following form containing signatures. <LINK> (Author’s form)
